I am so happy that First Bite is still going strong! Can’t believe it’s been so long! My overwhelming memory is just how supportive and kind the group was. High school was always a cliquey place where being ‘cool’ was the be all and end all, and First Bite was a complete step away from all of that- it was such a mix of people, all really wanting each other to do well and have fun.One other memory for you – the two clubs I was part of as a 10 year old were girl guides and First Bite- I left the girl guides because the group leader made me feel so left out and embarrassed after my surgery because I couldn’t take part in all the activities. In contrast, First Bite built my confidence back up. I remember how hard you worked to help make sure I could take part (even with our yoga style warm ups!), it made a big difference to me. I think I was a kid that always looked confident on the outside but wasn’t always as confident as I seemed so it was really important to me. I’m sure the next generation of First Biters feel just the same! Xxx
